| 29 golfers picked with over half unique and we won't give up on Tiger... |
 The
picks and mid-point round one standings for the first event of the
year are up on the site. We had 29 different golfers chosen this
week. We all think Tiger is on the comeback because he is a
unanimous pick this week. We all, or most of us, think Phil will
play better than he did at the end of last year because he was the
2nd favorite with 13 pickers. Last week's runner-up Bill Haas was
chosen 10 times. Nine players figured that this week Dustin Johnson
could tell what a bunker is, or at least that he'd read the local
rules sheet. Rickie Fowler got the nod 8 times. Half of the pool
players like Nick Watney. Hunter Mahan's on 5 teams. Chucky Howell
trey, Thurston's boy, is a 4-bagger. The actual treys include
Anthony Kim, Ryuji Imada and Justin Rose. Brandt Snedeker is the
lone deuce.Uniques. Yea, we got'em this week. Seventeen of'em. That's almost 60% of the picks, and no one has more than 2. Elise, Chris, Dan, Hugh and both Mikes have 2 each. Jordie, Steve, Brian, Randy and Dave A. have one each. Dave B., Bill and I couldn't find a unique pick this week. We didn't pick up anyone new this year and we didn't lose anybody, so we've got the same gang going at it as last year. Payouts will be the same as last year. You will notice there is no more Mils Lane screaming at you the day the new picks go up. I took all the sounds off the website and will most likely leave it that way. I doubt that really bothers anyone. The feedback on the sounds was less than positive. Mils' picture will still appear on the home page the first day the picks are up, just so you can tell at a glance. I would like to thank everyone for the kind words about the website. I enjoy working on it and try to make it functional as well as ascetically pleasing; which is not easy for someone who got a C- in basic graphic design. Maybe I should have gone to class more often. And how about this week?... oh man. Torrey Pines, Tiger, Phil, lots of young guns... ya just know it's gonna be a hell of a start to the 2011 campaign. Let's all say it together... Let's get it on!!
