The PGA Championship Picks Are Up! |
31 golfers, 14 uniques and a wide, wide range of scores... |
The picks and early round 1 standings for the final major of
the year are up on the site. We chose 31 golfers this week.
Englishman Luke Donald and Irishman Rory "It's Only a Root,
Swing As Hard As You Can" McIlroy are co-favorites, picked 11
times each. Aussie Jason Day appears on 10 teams. Another
Australian, Stevie Williams was picked 9 times. No wait, Adam
Scott was picked 9 times; Williams is just caddying for Scott.
Or is he? Americans Rickie Fowler, Phil Mickelson, Nick Watney
and Steve Stricker, plus Brit Lee Westwood, were all chosen 5
times each. American Dustin Johnson got the nod 4 times. No
treys this week, but a bunch of deuces. They are Americans Zach
Johnson, Anthony Kim, Gary Woodland and Tiger "Red Grange"
Woods, German Martin Kaymer, Korean Y.E. Yang and Japan's Ryo "Ocho
Cinco" Ishikawa. Fourteen unique picks this week. A nice number for a major. Chris is the leader with 4. Jordie and Mike D. came up with 2 each. Randy, Dan, Elise, Steve and both Daves have 1 each. The remaining 5 players are not going for "Glory's Last Shot" though the unique route. "Glory's Last Shot". I guess that means the Fed-Ex Cup really doesn't mean anything. I would have to agree with that, especially as it applies to the Rule 20-6 Golf Pool. This is our last chance of the year at majors glory and we've got a nice set of picks to make it happen... Three fairly popular favorites then no golfers chosen more then five times. A good number of uniques to keep it real and a course that looks like it can be had if one is golfing their ball well, but a mean nasty bitch of a track if you're not... that's the way it ought to be. Weed out the riff-raff early (which it looks like has happened to a few of our picks already) and bring up the real players for the weekend. Oh hell yea this is gonna be a good one... Let's Get It On! Later, |
