Chris Wins The U.S. Open! |
Kaymer and Chris, wire to wire... |
This was the first "T.M.C." event of the Summer, so see above for those standings. I took over the still early Summer Season lead. Chris is 2nd and Dan's 3rd. Brian's now 4th. I jumped up 2 spots to take the lead in the Year-Long race. Steve and Hugh fell one spot each to 2nd and 3rd, respectively. Shelley stayed on the money bubble. Our next event has a new name, but everything else will probably be the same. The Quicken Loans National, formerly known as the AT&T National, will be in about 10 days at Congressional C.C., somewhere around Washington D.C. It still benefits The Tiger Woods Child Slave Labor Foundation, or something like that, so maybe the media hero will make an appearance, telling us all about how his surgery went and recovery is going, blah, blah blah. I doubt he makes it to the tournament, unless there's a Waffle House waitress he's fond of in the D.C. area. In fact, I hope he's done playing golf. I'm really starting to like golf and golf telecasts when they only mention him not being there instead of showing his every shot, spit and crotch scratch (STD's make you do that a lot). I'm sure he'll eventually be back, but I really hope he's done. Without Tiger golf would become interesting again only to those who care about the game and ESPN will leave it alone and focus on soccer, X-games and off-season NFL minutia. They suck at coverage of all that too, but I don't care about those "sports". Purses may go down if mainstream media leaves golf alone, but the game will go on, probably stronger when the "You-da-man/mash-potato" people go away. Yes, the game is and will be fine without Tiger. Really. Get those picks in on time. Later, ![]() |
