| If you're going to hold a tournament in Akron, don't expect a big turnout... |
 The alphabetized picks and round one standings are on the
site. We chose 29 golfers. No one was unanimous. Jason Day is
the favorite, chosen 14 times. U.S. Open champ D.J. made it on
to 13 teams. Eleven of us wanted to see Brooks "Quitter" Koepka
play this week. Adam Scott was picked 9 times. The Bubba is on
half the teams. Shane Lowry and Jim Furyk show up 6 times
each. Branden Grace got the nod 5 times. Justin Rose, Jason
Dufner, Danny Lee and Jordan Spieth are all 4-baggers. Hideki
Matsuyama and Patrick Reed are the only treys. Scott Piercy,
Kevin Na and J.B. Holmes are this week's deuces.Twelve unique picks. Oliver leads the way with 5 on his all Southeast Asian team. Chris has 3. Dave has 2. Dan and Joe have one each. The remaining 11 of us wanted to pick LeBron, but figured he wouldn't be a unique. Steve and Brian T. have the same 7 golfers. This is not a bad set of picks for a 61, now 58, golfer field. We picked nearly half the golfers playing. Almost 20% of the field are unique picks. A few favorites and plenty of mid-range picks... should be interesting. The World Golf Championships usually don't announce their purse distributions until at least Saturday, often not until Sunday, so I'll be using my best guess on the payout percentages of the $9.5 million purse until I find the official purse. Firestone is always a fun course to watch the boys play and if Akron's weather has been dry like it has been here in Central Ohio the course will be firm and fast. Despite being in Akron, this is gonna be a good one... Let's get it on! Later,
