 The picks and round one standings for this week's tournament
are on the site. We chose 43 golfers, sort of. No golfer even
sniffed unanimous, but rookie Jon Rahm is the favorite, picked
12 times. Hardened veteran Jim Furyk made 11 teams. Olympic
also-ran Patrick Reed shows up 8 times. Brandt Snedeker was
chosen 7 times. Bill Haas, Ryan Moore, Webb Simpson and Justin
Thomas are on 6 teams each. Jimmy Walker and William McGirt are
both 4-baggers. Hideki Matsuyama, Rickie Fowler and Wesley
Bryan are treys. Rafa Cabrera Bello is the only playing deuce.
Zach Johnson and Louie O. are non-playing deuces.Lots of uniques, 27 total. That number is totally nuts, but only 19 are playing, so it's only slightly nuts. Hugh, Oliver, Chris and Dan have 4 each. Dave and Mike M. have 3 each. Randy and Mike D. have 2 each. Joe has one. The remaining 7 of us got teams in this week and picked golfers who are playing and didn't manage a Greensboro unique. Apparently an impressive feat. I think it's pretty obvious that with this wide open bunch of picks there is going to be some separation created in the standings. For some reason I don't understand the purse for this tournament is about $1 million dollars less than the average tour event, so that might keep things from getting too spread out. We had 3 players not get their teams updated. At first I thought maybe that was some sort of North Carolina transgender bathroom protest thing, but I'm starting to doubt that theory. No matter how much they're playing for, who bothered to make picks or where anyone pees, this is gonna be a good one... Let's get it on! Later,
