Mike D. Wins The RBC Heritage!

Guess he really was the favorite...

The Rule 20-6 Golf Pool Tournament #7 Trophy.Mike D. was one of only two players to have all of his team make the cut, the only one of the two with both winner Jim Furyk and 5th place Matt Kuchar, and he needed all those cut makers to win this week by $21,240 over Steve and me.  It was Mike's first win of the year and 3rd cash.  He is also the only person ever to win The Heritage in this pool, winning the only other time we played at Harbour Town in 2011.  Steve and I had two golfers miss the cut, which turned out to be the bane of our weekend.  T15 Luke Donald could have shot one stroke lower too.  Brian finished on the bubble about $31k out of the money.  He also had 2 golfers missing the cut and needed T18 Ian Poulter one or two strokes lower.

The Spring Season standings did not change any positions, one through thirteen.  The top 4, in order, are still Steve, Brian, Mike D. and me.

Our next event in about 9 days is our last W.G.C. tournament of the year, The Cadillac Match Play.  They are playing this year in San Francisco at Harding Park G.C.  I guess it is now a TPC course, technically called TPC Harding Park.  Whatever they call it, it has to be a lot better than that scorpion farm they used to play.  The format for this year's WGC-Match Play is also quite different.  They are going to create 16 groups with four golfers in each group, then each group will play a round-robin the first 3 days.  The winner of each group will advance to a traditional match play tournament on Saturday and Sunday.  If you want to read more detail on how they pick the groups and various other WGC/PGATour bullshit, click here.  When they announced this format a few months ago they said they would pay the golfers who do not advance based on their record in their group.  That would be good for us, to help avoid ties and such.  I don't see that listed anymore, so I hope they don't plan to give 48 golfers the same amount of money.  We might end up with a 13-way tie for 1st.  The four years we've played this event have worked out pretty well, hopefully this one will too.  It better, we've got Season and T.M.C. pools riding heavily on this big money event.

Remember, this tournament starts on Wednesday, so plan accordingly.

Get those picks in, and on time too.

Later,
