 The alphabetized picks and first round standings are on the
site. We chose 28 golfers. The young Irishman is the unanimous
favorite. The young Yank is the #2 pick of the week, one short
of unanimous. The man with the roller coaster swing was picked
9 times. The whiny Spaniard and the last Englishman to win the
U.S. Open show up on 7 teams each. The limey who looks like he
just left a soccer riot got the nod 6 times. Five of us like
the coke head with the hot fiancée. A Texan, a Jap and a Swed
are treys. The deuces include an Australian Masters champion, a
South African British Open champ, a Brit with no majors and two
Americans, one who's last name can't be properly pronounced by
humans and one who smiles too much.The unique picks totaled 13. Chris led the way with 3. Dave and both Mikes check in with 2 each. Steve, Joe, Bill and Hugh have one each. Randy, Brian, Dan, Jordie and I missed out on a wanna-be major unique. These picks look like almost every other tournament this year... around 30 golfers, 3 or 4 heavy favorites, half or so uniques and 65% to 75% uniques, deuces or treys. I thought there might be a little more gambling this week, being the last event of the season. We have to tolerate the NBC TV crew again this week, which might be another reason this tournament is not a major. I wonder if Johnny Miller grew up playing this course too? We will find out if he did. Aw well, we've got a nice mix of picks for some true golf pooling excitement... so this one will be better than most... better than most... Arrgg. Let's get it on! Later,
