Dan Wins The British Open!

That team didn't work in the U.S. Open, why not try it in the British?...

The Rule 20-6 Golf Pool British Open trophy.Dan had winner Zach Johnson as a unique, along with T4 Jordan Spieth and T6 Justin Rose, and won this week by $759,895 over Brian.  It was Dan's first career major win and second major cash of the year.  Second place Brian, who continues to cash at the rate of every other week, would have picked up his first major if either of the other 2 playoff contenders had won. He had 4 top 10's, T2 Louie O. and T10 Adam Scott, plus Spieth and Rose.  Randy picked up his first bit o' winnings of the year, finishing 3rd, $216,143 behind Brian.  Randy also had Spieth, Rose and Louie, but not much else to back them up.  Jordie ended up on the bubble, $38,144 out of the money, despite having 4 top 6 golfers on his team, but no one playing more than 72 holes.

Dan moved into 1st at the midway point of the "T.M.C."  He leads Brian by just over $411k.  Jordie is 3rd, about $386k behind Brian.  Chris is 4th, around $251k short of Jordie.

Brian moved up from 4th to take over the Summer Season lead.  Dave dropped one spot to 2nd and I fell one position to 3rd.  Dan came up from 10th to 4th place.  Less than $1 million separates the top six with 4 tournaments to go.

The top 4 spots in the Year-Long race once again stayed the same.  It is still, in order, Brian, Steve, Dave, me.

Our next event in about 9 days is the Quicken Loans National, played this year at the Robert Trent Jones G.C. in Gainesville, Virginia.  They used to play this at Congressional C.C. in D.C. and when that course was holding a major they went to Aronimink G.C. near Philly, another great course.  I know nothing about Robert Trent Jones G.C., but I'm thinking this is a step down.  They used to get a pretty good field, hopefully that won't be a step down too.  I think this tournament still benefits Tiger's charity, so there might be some sort of connection there to quality golf courses disassociating themselves with this event.  Or maybe Tiger is just looking for a course he can break par on?  I don't know for sure, but maybe we could start a rumor.

Get those picks in on time.

Later,
