 The organized picks and round one standings are on the site.
We chose 29 golfers. McIlroy is the favorite, picked by all but
one of us. Day grabbed the #2 most popular spot, chosen 12
times. Spieth made it on to 11 teams. Rose shows up 10 times.
Nine of us went for defending champ Fowler. The winy little
Spaniard Garcia was picked by half the Pool players. Matsuyama
and Scott were chosen 7 times each. Stenson got the nod 5
times. Horschel is the only trey. Six deuces: Casey,
Mickelson, D.J., Reed, Rodgers and Na.A baker's dozen of unique picks. Chris leads with 4. Brian, Oliver and Mike D. have 2 each. Hugh, Dan and Bill have one each. The remaining 9 of us won't have to worry about a unique coming to the 17th on Sunday with a 2 stroke lead and dunking 3 or 4 in the water. Our picks this week are a little wilder than I thought they'd be... the usual suspects are pretty popular, but 20 of the 29 golfers are uniques, deuces or treys. That's going to keep it interesting. This course, which is far from one of my favorites, certainly requires good shot making, but what's probably more important is it requires a lot of good bounces. A winner always has to be lucky, but it seems a little more necessary at Sawgrass. It all makes for good TV, which is all I really care about. As long as NBC and the PGA Tour don't try too hard to convince the world this is a major, which it isn't and NEVER will be, it's gonna be a pretty damn good one... Let's get it on! Later,
