Chris Wins The Masters!

Someone forgot to tell that whiny little Spaniard this wasn't the Ryder Cup...

The Rule 20-6 Golf Pool Masters Trophy.Only 2 players had 2017 Masters Champion Sergio Garcia on their teams this week and as one might expect they finished 1-2.  Chris had "El Niño" plus 4 other top 11 golfers and won his 2nd Rule 20-6 Green Jacket by $268,400 over Mike M.  Chris had all seven of his picks finish in the top 30.  It was his 6th career major, all of them since 2011.  He's won 8 tournaments since 2011 and 6 of them have been majors.  He knows when to peak his game.  Mike gambled on D.J., and lost, which made it near impossible to top Chris' strong team.  He did benefit from Hideki Matsuyama's final round 67.  I finished 3rd, $523,600 behind Mike.  I had 6 golfers the same as Chris, our only difference being Sergio and my pick of playoff loser Justin Rose.  Dave found the money bubble, missing a cash by $28,600.

The Masters based their payouts on an $11 million purse and the in-tournament standings and unofficial results were based on a $10 million purse, so everyone's teams ended up with a bit more money than was posted right after and during the tournament.  The percentages were the same so none of the positions changed, just the team total amounts.

Mike M. moved up from 4th to retake the Spring Season lead.  Last week's leader Brian T. is in 2nd and trails him by just over $275k.  Andrew is now 3rd, about $130k behind Brian.  Brian G. moved up to 4th but is just over $1.3 million out of the last money spot.  There are still 4 tournaments to go in that race, including the big money Players Championship.

At the halfway point in the "TMC" pool, Mike M. extended his lead to around $692k.  Chris jumped all the way from the basement to 2nd place and is a little over $518k ahead of 3rd place Andrew, who fell one spot.  I came up from 9th to 4th, about $65k behind Andrew.

I really didn't mind seeing Sergio win.  Yes, if Rose had won I would have won this week, but the Spaniard deserved a major.  He's a whiner, but overall seems like a decent guy, unlike say Colin Montgomery who did not deserve to win a major.  He was an ass.

No time to rest.  We are going at it again this Thursday on Hilton Head Island and the Harbour Town Golf Links for the RBC Heritage.  This is a short, tight course that gives no real advantage to the big hitters.  My kind of course.  Hopefully some of the big names will show up the week after a major.  If not, this set of picks may take a little more work.  And I'm too tired for that.

Get those picks in on time.

Later,
