Hugh Wins The Barclays! |
He's laying a beat down on us like Nick Barclay puts on an bad guy... |
Despite his non-European picks finishing like it was an
international team competition, Hugh won this week by $173,280 over
Shelley. It was his 4th win in 2014, 8th cash of the year and
2nd cash in a row. Shelley needed one less shot from her unique
t5 Matt Kuchar and she would have passed Hugh. Dave B. snuck,
and I do mean snuck, into the final money position, finishing
$128,920 behind Shelly and edging out 4th place Chris by $1,440
and 5th place Dave A. by $2,120. Dan remained in 1st in the Summer Season pool. Bill came up from 4th to 2nd and trails Dan by just under $573k. It gets really tight after this. I remained in 3rd, about $31k behind Bill. Steve fell 2 spots to 4th and is only about $15k behind me. The difference between 2nd and 6th is less than $700k. With 2 tournaments left, there are still plenty of horses in this race. In the Year-Long race, Steve stayed in the top spot. Hugh moved up to 2nd and cut Steve's lead down to about $482k. I dropped to 3rd and trail Hugh by just over $702k. Dan is on the bubble, currently around $1.4 million out of the money. Not much time to rest, though we do an extra day to procrastinate. We go at it again this week at the Deutsche Bank Championship at The TPC of Boston in Norton, Massachusetts, near Bawstan and Hawvawd Yawd. This is the one that starts on Friday and ends on Labor Day Monday. And this is, of course, the 2nd leg of the coveted Fed-Ex Cup Playoffs, the only thing any PGA Tour golfer ever thinks about winning. As they say in the ads, "Screw the majors, gimme that Fed-Ex Cup and that $10 million annuity." Or something like that. Play golf well and get free money. I should have practiced more. And had more talent. A lot more. Get those picks in on time. Later, |
