The PGA Championship Picks Are Up!

The creepy logo for this tournament is giving me nightmares...

Let's Get It On!The picks and round one standings for the year's final major, "GLORY'S LAST SHOT" (take that PGA Tour), are on the site.  We chose just 22 golfers.  The Spieth youngster is the favorite and a unanimous pick.  D.J. and Jason Day tied for the 2nd most popular spot, chosen 10 times each.  Nine of us like the Man in the Puma hat.  Foreigners Justin Rose and Rory McIlroy made it on to 8 teams each.  The Bubba was picked 7 times.  Louie O. got the nod 5 times.  Adam Scott is the lone trey.  Furyk, Matsuyama, Stenson, Z.J. and Robert Streb are this week's deuces.

Eight uniques.  Hugh, Dan and Mike M. have 2 each.  Chris and Dave have 1 each.  The remaining 8 of us will not know "Glory's Last Unique" this year.

Actually, they stopped using "Glory's Last Shot" last year.  I missed that or forgot.  I guess part of the "deal" was that if the PGA of America stopped using that fairly lame but appropriate marketing slogan the PGA Tour would give the golfers a week off between the Tour Championship and the Ryder Cup (the PGA of America runs/owns the Ryder Cup).  That sure worked out well for the U.S. team last year.  The PGA of America should have agreed only if the PGA Tour promised to refer to the Fed-Ex Cup as "Greed's Last Orgy".

It only takes a quick glance at the picks to know this is a major... a lower than usual number of golfers picked, 7 golfers picked by more than half of us, the lowest percentage of uniques to total picks for the year... I guess we're going to start taking chances next week.  The standings will be tight this week, unless someone's unique or a deuce goes crazy.  The course will be a bitch if the wind blows.  This has all the makings of a major championship and I'll be damned, it is.  Gotta be a good one...
