The Quicken Loans National Picks Are Up!

Otherwise known as the Also-Ran Invitational...

Let's Get It On!The organized picks and round one standings for this week's event are on the site.  We chose 34 golfers.  Patrick Reed is our #1 favorite, chosen 14 times.  U.S. Open runner-up Jim Furyk is the 2nd most popular golfer, on 13 teams.  Half of us like Rickie Fowler.  Charley Hoffman and Brendan Steele were picked 7 times each.  Marc Leishman made it on 6 teams.  Tony Finau and Ryan Palmer show up 5 times each.  Justin Thomas got the nod 4 times.  Five treys: Bill Haas, Gary Woodland, Daniel Summerhays, Jon Rahm and Byeong Hun An.  So many deuces I can't count'em: Kyle Reifers, Webb Simpson, James Hahn, Bryson DeChambeau, Patrick Rodgers, Chucky Howell 3, Andrew Loupe and Kevin Streelman.

Twelve unique picks.  Hugh and Mike D. lead with 3 each.  Chris and Oliver have 2 each.  Brian G. and Joe have one each.  The other 10 of us acted like D.C. congressman and voted on party lines.

This really is a wide-open bunch of picks.  Even though the percentage of uniques is the lowest since the Masters, 35%, the uniques, deuces and treys is the highest percentage of the year, 74%.  Only two true favorites and they are far from unanimous.  And all the golfers picked are playing.  This is a perfect set of teams for an end of the season tournament.  A surprise deuce or trey winner could bring a couple players up from the bowels of the standings and get them in the money.  Congressional C.C. is a tough classic course, I'm surprised the scores are as low as they are in the first round.  The morning rains must have softened it up.  Regardless, this is going to be some classic, down-to-the-wire golf pooling...

Let's get it on!

Later,
