The Valspar Championship Picks Are Up! |
A lot of scrubs makes for interesting golf pooling... |
The organized picks and round one
standings for this week's tournament are on the site. We chose
31 golfers. Henrik Stenson is the favorite, chosen 14 times.
Ryan Moore is the 2nd most popular golfer, picked 11 times.
Justin Thomas and Gary Woodland show up on 10 teams each. Nine
of us like Smilin' Matt Kuchar. Bill Haas got the nod 7 times.
Graham DeLaet is on 6 teams. Patrick Reed didn't piss off 5 of
us. Wesley Bryan, Jason Dufner and Kevin "Should I Try This
Week?" Na are the treys. We have just a plethora of deuces:
Tony Finau, Jim Furyk, Ryo Ishikawa, Daniel Berger, Charl
Schwartzel, Luke Donald, Ollie Schniederjans, Billy Horschel,
Chris Kirk, Steve Stricker and Bubba Watson. Nine unique picks for week 2. Chris is the clear leader with 4. Dan has 2. Jordie, Bill and Oliver have one each. The remaining 11 of us did not find a unique, but everyone has at least one deuce. I set up a March Madness basketball pool on ESPN for Rule 20-6 players. If you want to participate, go to ESPN.com and click on Fantasy Games. If you have never played on ESPN you will need to register. It is free. Once registered, go to Tournament Challenge, name your entry, and then place your entry in the Group named "Rule 20-6”. The password is (see the email for the password or contact the Commish). Make sure you get your entry into the Rule 20-6 group. Once the brackets are announced on Sunday, March 12th, you may fill out your brackets. The cost is $5/bracket and you may fill out up to 10 brackets, though if you put 10 brackets in this pool you're crazier than a U.S. President. Payouts will be the same as listed in the Golf Pool Rules of Play, Rule #14, with 1 entry = 1 player. All monies will be collected and paid at the end of the Golf Pool year and entries are restricted to Golf Pool members only. Steve runs a much bigger March Madness pool on ESPN. If you want to enter his pool contact him at his email that should be listed in the "To:" section of this email. We have quite an interesting set of picks this week. Five golfers picked by more than half of us, then 23 of the remaining 26 golfers are uniques, deuces or treys. I don't ever remember having double-digit deuces. Eleven has to be a record. Our leaderboard should be moving around quite a bit the next 4 days. This is suppose to be a tough course, 7 under was the winning score last year, but 9 under is leading after Thursday. I didn't watch any of it, I'm guessing the conditions are a bit wet. Regardless, with this set of picks the weather or conditions won't matter, it's just gotta be a good one... Let's get it on!
