 Finally, it is here. The early round one standings for the
first major of the year are up on the site. As always, the
picks have been there since the deadline. Most of us played it
pretty tight this week. We chose a total of 24 golfers. No one
was unanimous but last week's winner and last year's champion
Phil Mickelson is the clear favorite, making it on all but one
team. Nick Watney was the second most popular pick, bagged by
11 players. Nine players liked Matt Kuchar. Lee Westwood,
Hunter Mahan and Eldrick "Tiger" Woods were chosen 8 times
each. Luke Donald got the nod from 7 of us. Anthony Kim is on
5 teams. Martin Kaymer and Bubba Watson are four-baggers. The
treys are young guns Rickie Fowler and Dustin Johnson. Three
deuces: Ian Poulter, Justin Rose and Graeme McDowell.Nine unique picks this week. Chris and Mike M. are the leaders with 3 each. Hugh, Jordie and Dave B. each snagged one unique. The remaining 9 of us are uniqueless. This one's going to be tight, on the course and in the pool. Not many of us wanted to take any chances this week, so unless some unique pick wants to pull away from the field this one might just come down to the last putt. I sure hope the tournament does too. Phil is hot, Tiger claims (again) he's close to being back, the young up-and-comers are due to show their stuff... Aw yes, I can smell the azaleas and hear the back nine roars from here. Is there really any question this is gonna be a good one?... Let's get it on! Later,
