Bill Wins The Memorial Tournament! |
Our picks sure are choking a lot this year... |
Bill had all 7 of his picks finish in the top 20 and won this
week's tournament by just over $50,000 ahead of Brian. It was
Bill's first win, and cash, of the year. He continued his
streak of being the only player to win at least once every year
we've played this pool. Brian had 6 top 20's, only his pick of
Phil, who needs some insider information on how to hit a driver
straight, missing that mark. Jordie grabbed the final money
spot, finishing just over $37,000 behind Brian. I ended up on
the bubble, about $65,000 away from cashing. Being the first event of the Summer Season, see the paragraph above for those current standings. In the Year-Long race, Steve and Hugh stayed 1-2. I moved up one spot to 3rd. Shelley is down one place to 4th. There's a long way to go in this pool and less than $2.2 million separates 1st and 9th places. No run-away winners yet. The next event in about 10 days is the 2nd real major of the year, The U.S. Open, being played this year at "the fabled" Pinehurst #2 in North Carolina. From what I've read this will be a very different U.S. Open. They are going to keep the rough short so balls hit poorly will run into the pine trees and pine needles. We may actually get to see some interesting recovery shots; not a usual thing in our national championship. I also think they really want to see Phil win. I'm picking him, if he's not in prison. Get those picks in on time. Later, |
