The British Open Picks Are Up! |
Brown is good... |
The alphabetized picks and round one
standings for the year's 3rd major are on the site. We chose 24
golfers. Englishman Justin Rose is a unanimous favorite, only
our 2nd unanimous pick of the year. Stoners Englishman Tommy
Fleetwood and American Dustin Johnson were chosen 15 times
each. USA's Rickie Fowler got the nod 8 times. Americans
Brooks Koepka and that Tiger guy were picked 7 times each. On 6
teams, from Italy, Francesco Molinari. American Patrick Reed,
Irishman Rory McIlroy and Swedes Henrik Stenson and Alex Noren
were picked 5 times each. Texan Jordan Spieth is the only
4-bagger. Aussie Marc Leishman is the only trey. Lots of
deuces: Americans Phil Mickelson, Kevin Na and Justin Thomas;
Englishmen Paul Casey and Ian Poulter; Australian Jason Day. When everyone gets their picks in the uniques go down; only 5 this week. Hugh has 2. Bill, Jordie and Mike D. have one each. The other 13 of us will not become the Champion Golfer of the Year with a unique. An interesting set of picks. Three very clear favorites then no one picked by more than half of us. The uniques are low but the 1-2-3's total half the golfers picked. Someone, or a couple of players, are going to make a serious move in the pool standings this week. I'd say the course is playing fast but that would be an understatement. I wish we had good courses in this country that play that fast. Unfortunately Americans like their green grass and water. This is the British Open so something bizarre has to happen and it's always a good one... Let's Get It On! Later, |
