John Wins The British Open! |
Better have a big plate of spaghetti to celebrate that one... |
Sorry for the lateness of this email but
I've been busy celebrating my Champion Golfer of the Year
title. I won this week, finishing $113,125 ahead of Mike D. It
was my first win of the year, 3rd career major and 3rd cash of
the year. Mike and I were the only players with the top 3 Pool
picks, winner Francesco Molinari and T2's Justin Rose and Rory
McIlroy. I topped him mostly due to my pick of T12 Tommy Fleetwood
playing well on Saturday and not completely blowing it Sunday
and his unique pick of T17 Z.J. not seeming to want to be there on
the weekend. This was Mike's 2nd cash in a row and 4th of the
year. Andrew finished 3rd, $279,893 behind Mike, which is also
his 4th cash of 2018. Andrew suffered from T6 Tiger, who Mike and
I didn't have, not knowing how to come from behind and win.
Brian G. ended up on the bubble, $42,571 out of the last money
spot. Andrew stretched his Summer Season lead to over $1.3 million. I came up from 4th to 2nd. Joe and Hugh both dropped one spot to 3rd and 4th respectively. At the midway point of the "TMC" Andrew made a major move from 4th to 1st and has more than a $1.2 million lead. Joe is now 2nd. I jumped from 7th to 3rd and Bill came up 2 places to 4th. The PGA Championship is the next tournament in this pool. The Year-Long race is now really a race. Andrew took over the lead in this pool too. I am now 2nd. Mike M. fell from the lead to 3rd. Mike D. made a solid jump from 7th to 4th. Less than $303k separate the top 3. In about 8 days we go to the Anus of Ohio, Akron, for the final edition of the W.G.C.-Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone C.C. They are moving this W.G.C. event to Memphis next year, leaving the Cleveland area without a PGA Tour event or Lebron James. So much for what was left of that area's economy. This will be the start of our final stretch run of 4 events in 5 weeks with all of the tournaments having a $9 million or more purse. Still plenty of time and money to make that move in the pools. This is when we separate the real golf poolers from the pretenders. Get those picks in on time. Later, |
