Dave B. Wins The San Diego Open! |
Lots of top 10's will usually get the job done... |
I heard rumors before the start of the season that Dave B.
wasn't going to play this year. I heard he quit playing other
fantasy sports and he's had a couple of lean golf pool years
lately, by the standards he's set as the all-time wins leaders,
anyway. I thought maybe, like he did in 2007, he'd at least
take the Spring Season off. I should never believe the rumors.
Dave is playing and is the champion of the year's first
tournament. He won this week by $61,877 over Joe, thanks in
large part to his deuce pick of Gary Woodland firing 69-66 on
the weekend. He also had 5 golfers in the top 10. It was his
33rd career win, 5 more than the next best. Joe finished 2nd
and had 4 top 10's and all 7 of his picks in the top 25. I
ended up 3rd, $35,465 behind Joe. Mike M. became the first 4th
place casher in Pool history, $39,086 behind me. Hugh found the
money bubble, missing a paycheck by $47,322. The Season standing are pretty obvious, being the first tournament of the year. No time to rest. We are back at it this week in Phoenix for the Waste Management Phoenix Open at the TPC Scottsdale Stadium Course. Yea, this is the course with the par 3 completely surrounded by grandstands and the people act like idiots. I doubt the field will be as strong as San Diego, but there are usually a few big names that like the crazy atmosphere. I'm pretty sure we'll have a lot more uniques, deuces and treys than we had this week. Time to start making your move. Get those picks in on time. Later, |
